What is a Republican?
As Republicans, we live and work under the principle
that the government that governs best governs least. We believe that
the more government involves itself in our lives, the less we do for
ourselves. It is clear that people throughout Connecticut feel less
and less control over their own lives as government has supplanted
what people used to do for themselves. The more government tries
to do the less it does well.
All people deserve the chance to create for themselves
and their families a better life independent from need.
Our goal as Republicans is to provide for the greater
good through common opportunities for all people. We encourage
savings, conservation, and an attitude of self-reliance for all of
Connecticut by appealing to our strengths - not our fears.
We represent a mosaic of neighborhoods, towns and
cities. We believe Connecticut’s greatest resources are the energy,
ingenuity and strength of all its people.
Using these guiding principles the House Republican
Caucus will build a foundation for the decisions we make and the
votes we cast on behalf of our constituents.
As we vote on each issue before us we will ask ourselves
these questions:
Is it honest?
Does it violate anyone’s rights?
Is it wasteful?
Does it foster dependence?
Does it encourage thrift?
Is it good for my district?
Is it good for the State of Connecticut?
Is it a need no one else can fill?
