On Tuesday, July 29, state and local officials held a ceremony in Bethel naming a section of Route 6 for a state trooper killed in the line of duty. The Legislature approved an initiative introduced by State Rep. David Scriber naming the section of roadway for Trooper James Lambert, who was struck and killed by a drunk driver in 1960 while making a routine traffic stop. The smaller, ceremonial sign will be delivered to Trooper Lambert's mother, who resides in Maine. On Wednesday, April 9, area state legislators participated in "Danbury Day" at the State Capitol. In honor of the "Hat City," many legislators wore hats during the day's legislative session. On Saturday, April 5, State Rep. David Scribner, R-Brookfield, Bethel, joined with local health officials and personnel in a Pandemic Flu Response Exercise at the Bethel Health Care Center. The exercise allowed personnel from area health districts, police and fire departments, and medical and non-medical community members and volunteers to work together to test capabilities to respond to a large scale emergency.
