REPRESENTATIVE CHAPIN HONORED BY FIREFIGHTERS
|

State Rep. Clark Chapin, R-New Milford, was recently honored by the Litchfield County Fire Chiefs. The organization bestowed a plaque of appreciation for Rep. Chapin’s support of area firefighters and the Burrville Training School during a ceremony held at the Litchfield Inn.
During the 2008 legislative session, Rep. Chapin also co-sponsored legislation that was passed into law that prohibits municipal firefighter contracts from banning paid firefighters from serving in volunteer fire companies. In recent years, many firefighters who hold paid positions for municipalities have expressed a desire to serve in volunteer fire companies in the towns where they reside. However, a number of municipal contracts forbid this volunteerism.
“Clark Chapin is certainly deserving of this honor,” said Litchfield County Fire Chiefs Emergency Plan President James C. Koser, who also serves as Chief of the Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department. “He has consistently shown support for volunteer firefighters during his tenure in the Legislature and we are especially thankful for his support for the Burrville Training School.”
"I appreciate being recognized by volunteers who do such important work in our communities,” said Rep. Chapin. “I look forward to continuing to work with them on issues in the future."
