REP. CHAPIN APPOINTED TO LEAD REVIEW COMMITTEE
|

State Rep. Clark Chapin, R-New Milford, has been appointed to serve as chairman of the House Republican Bill Screening Committee. The appointment was made by House Republican Leader Lawrence F. Cafero, R-Norwalk.
Rep. Chapin has served on the committee since 2005. He was appointed to serve as its vice-chairman in October 2007.
The committee meets prior to each legislative session day to conduct a comprehensive review of legislation that will be brought before the full House of Representatives. Committee members review each bill and amendment for potential flaws, hidden clauses, unintended consequences and improvements that can be made either through revised language or the amendment process.
"Throughout his tenure, Clark Chapin has brought a strong attention to detail to the job of state representative and that, combined with his experience, makes him an excellent fit to lead our screening committee," Rep. Cafero. "I’m confident the talents he demonstrated as vice-chairman will be even more evident as chairman and ultimately benefit residents of both his district of New Milford and the state."
“I feel honored to receive this appointment,” said Rep. Chapin. “Leading the committee offers a unique opportunity to review, and hopefully improve, significant legislation in its formative stages.”
