REPRESENTATIVE FREY APPOINTED TO LEADERSHIP POSITION IN LEGISLATURE

HARTFORD--State Representative John H. Frey, R-Ridgefield, has been appointed by House Minority Leader-elect Lawrence Cafero, R-Norwalk, as a Republican Whip in the House of Representatives. He was elected to his fifth term on November 7.

Rep. Frey’s new duties will include coordinating views on issues between rank-and-file legislators and leadership of the House Republican Caucus. Also, he will be responsible for reminding minority members of important upcoming votes, keeping count of how members plan to vote, monitoring legislation and securing votes for legislation on the House floor.

“John has proven himself to be an extremely dedicated legislator, both to his district and the entire state,” said Rep. Cafero. “He has shown outstanding abilities in the role of Assistant Republican Leader and I am certain he will be equally successful in his new position.”

“It is an honor to receive this appointment,” said Rep. Frey. “Serving as an Assistant Leader during the past four years presented a number of additional opportunities to work with my colleagues on legislation and the position of Whip will allow me to be an even stronger voice for Ridgefield in the Legislature.”

Rep. Frey will receive his appointments to legislative committees within next several weeks.  In the past, he has served as a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, which has cognizance over taxation and bonding issues, Insurance and Real Estate Committee and Labor and Public Employees Committee, including two years as its Ranking Member (House Republican Leader).
