Rep. Frey Commends Appointment of Ridgefield Resident Gian-Carlo Peressutti to Key State Development Board

Gian-Carlo Peressutti of Ridgefield was recently appointed to serve on the Connecticut Development Authority Board of Directors.  Mr. Peressutti is succeeding Mr. Dennis Hrabchak whose term was up. Mr. Peressutti’s term is effective immediately, and is coterminous with that of the appointing authority, House Republican Leader Larry Cafero.

Gian-Carlo is a five-year Ridgefield resident with his wife and daughter. He attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and Choate Rosemary Hall. He is currently Director of Governmental Relations for CGI, a world class leader in information technology and business process services for businesses and governments of all sizes. In 2002, Mr. Peressutti let government service to join Dutko Worldwide, a comprehensive government affairs management firm where he opened a Tri-State Area office to focus on business development in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area.

Prior to his move into the private sector, Mr. Peressutti was Associate Director in the Office of Public Liasion for Present W. Bush. Gian-Carlo’s experience working with leaders of industry, dealing with national issues and advising the President permitted the building of coalitions among the private sector and federal agencies.

Mr. Peressutti served as Personal Aide and Press Secretary to former President George H. W. Bush from 1997 to 2001.  Accompanying the former President on all of his travel, he visited over 35 foreign countries and most of the 50 states while acting as President Bush’s liaison with foreign governments including Heads of State, host organizations, media, United States Secret Service and United States Embassies. Mr. Peressutti also acted as the former President’s primary media contact and spokesman to print, radio and television outlets both foreign and domestic.

The Connecticut Development Authority (CDA) provides debt financing and investment capital to help businesses grow in Connecticut. CDA stimulates business investment and create jobs by financing companies and projects that contribute to Connecticut’s economy, technology base, intellectual capital, urban infrastructure, employment or tax revenues if private sector financial institutions are unable to accommodate these businesses. The Connecticut Development Authority works with many financial and non-financial partners to help businesses get started, relocate to, grow and prosper in Connecticut.

Representative Frey said, “Gian-Carlo’s experience, both in the private sector and his unique experience working with the business community while at The White House, will be invaluable to the CDA.  From a local perspective, expanding Ridgefield’s non-residential tax base is a top priority.   Having a Ridgefield resident serving on the CDA can only help our local efforts.”

“Gian-Carlo has established a deep commitment to our region. He has served on numerous boards with distinction. His professionalism and understanding of our economic needs will make him a valuable member of this important authority. The CDA needs members who will champion Connecticut as a place, businesses can grow and expand. I look forward to further contributions that Gian-Carlo will provide to our region.”

“I’m honored to have been selected to serve on the CDA Board of Directors.  There is no issue, I’m convinced, more crucial to Connecticut’s future than our economic development,” said Mr. Peressutti. “Having spent my career at the nexus of government and industry, I hope to draw on those experiences and do all I can to foster a robust environment for businesses to grow and flourish in our great state,” he added.

Rep. Frey submitted Mr. Peressutti’s name for consideration, and he was selected from seven applicants. Rep. Frey, House Republican Whip, serves the 111th Assembly District of Ridgefield in the state House of Representatives.
