Rep. Hamzy: $5,000 Grant Awarded to CCRPA for Plymouth Historic Resources Survey |

A $5,000 grant that will help pay for an historic resources survey that will identify, map and document historically significant sites and structures in Plymouth has been awarded to the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency, state Representative William A. Hamzy announced today.
The grant, which was awarded by the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, will be used to retain a consultant to perform the survey. The study also will recommend strategies for preserving the historic structures and sites, said Representative Hamzy, R-78th District.
“The survey this grant will make possible will include both familiar structures such as the Eli Terry water wheel and undesignated sites that may be of historic but unrecognized importance to our town’s past. Plymouth has many historically significant buildings and sites that need to be identified and catalogued to help ensure efforts get underway to preserve them before they are lost forever,” Representative Hamzy said.
“This is fabulous news for our town,” said Mayor Jan Krampitz. “The information this survey will compile will significantly enhance our planning for the town’s historic district - especially the Eli Terry water wheel restoration project. It will give us valuable guidance in our ongoing effort to preserve Plymouth’s historic sites. We ‘d like to thank the CCRPA and Representative Hamzy for their efforts in securing this grant.”
CCRPA is expected to receive the funding within the next two weeks, Representative Hamzy said.
