Rep. Hamzy: Bond Commission Approves $200,000 Grant for Plymouth Business Park

 

Will Provide Funding Needed to Complete Pump Station Project  

The State Bond Commission has approved a $200,000 grant to pay the remaining costs to the town of constructing a water booster pump station at Swicklas Court in the Plymouth Business Park, state Representative William A. Hamzy, R-78th District, said today.

The bond commission approved the grant at its meeting today (Friday, June 9th). The funding is provided through the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP).

 “This grant, which is in addition to a $500,000 grant the bond commission approved for the pump station in March, brings the total state investment in the project to $700,000,” Representative Hamzy said, noting that the state is picking up all of the construction costs.

“When completed, the pump station will provide water to companies that open in the business park, and make it more marketable. As the business park fills up, it will expand our tax base and create more jobs for Greater Plymouth residents. I’d like to thank Governor Rell for supporting this project. It is extremely important to Plymouth’s economic future,” Representative Hamzy said.

“It was my pleasure to support this project,” said Governor M. Jodi Rell. “It will help stimulate economic growth in Plymouth and create hundreds of new jobs. Representative Hamzy has been a strong advocate for the Plymouth Business Park for many years and worked hard to secure the grants for the pump station project. I congratulate him for his efforts on behalf of this project and the Town of Plymouth.”

“I’m very grateful to Governor Rell and her office and to Representative Hamzy for their efforts in securing this essential grant for the pump station project,” said Mayor Jan Krampitz, “It is vital as a catalyst for the economic development of the town. It will not only enhance water pressure to the businesses in the park, but also ensure fire protection for them, for their employees, and for the new employers who will be moving to the park in the near future.”
