Representative Klarides to Appear at St. Mary- St. Michael School in Derby for Celebration of Reading |

DERBY- State Representative Themis Klarides will participate in a celebration of reading at the St. Mary- St. Michael School at 14 Seymour Avenue in Derby, Thursday, March 29th, at 9:00 a.m.
The activities are a part of “Connecticut Loves to Read Day,” which is dedicated to demonstrating to school children the importance of reading. The school has invited Representative Klarides, who will give a brief presentation to students on the significance of reading in their life, and then read a short story. The event coincides with the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss. Klarides is scheduled to read to students from Kindergarten to 3rd Grade.
“Reading is critical and central to all aspects of education and self-improvement,” said Representative Klarides. “I am pleased that St. Mary- St. Michael School has asked me to be a part of this program which will be very effective in demonstrating to these students why reading is so vital in life.”
Representative Klarides noted that she hoped children would take away a renewed interest in reading for pleasure and entertainment as well. “Apart from all the benefits in study and work that good reading habits provide us, there is nothing better than reading for your own interest and enjoyment.”
