Klarides: Funds Approved for Flood Damage in Woodbridge & New Haven Communities |

HARTFORD – Deputy House Republican Leader Themis Klarides (R-Derby) has announced that the new bonding package passed on Tuesday’s special session of the legislature included $2 million to provide assistance to those who own homes in Woodbridge and New Haven and suffered flooding damage along the West River during heavy storms last spring.
During the many days of heavy rainfall last April, many homes in Woodbridge and New Haven were damaged as the West River swelled beyond its banks. The $2 million in the bonding package will come in the form of grants to the homeowners who endured structural flooding damage.
“No one can stop an act of nature such as that which residents along the West River endured last April,” said Representative Klarides. “However, we can try to help those whose lives are upended by such unfortunate natural events. I am very happy that this funding was approved by the legislature to assist these families along the River. In many cases, this is the only assistance and relief they will get.”
The bonding package now heads to the desk of Governor M. Jodi Rell for her signature.
