Klarides Announces Arts Grants for Orange

HARTFORDDeputy House Republican Leader Themis Klarides (R-114) today announced two grant awards to organizations in Orange from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.  Both Racebrook Elementary PTO/PTA and Turkey Hill School PTA were awarded grants for different performing arts programs.

Racebrook Elementary School PTA was awarded $855 to support two performances by Mikata this coming February, two performances of “Little Red Music Shop” by Connecticut Opera in April of 2008, and two performances of “Storeography” by Adam Battlestein in May of 2008.

The Turkey Hill School PTA was awarded a grant of $383 to support one performance by Chariots of the Sun in January of 2008, and two performances by Sirius Coyote Duo in may of 2008.

“I want to thank the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism for extending these awards and congratulate the Racebrook and Turkey Hill PTAs for embarking on significant programs of cultural enrichment,” said Representative Klarides.  “These programs take a lot of planning and resources, and we should all remain committed to making significant events like the ones planned by these two groups a priority for our communities.”

The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism awards grants designed to bring the best of Connecticut’s performing arts to wider audiences by offering funding support to nonprofit organizations that feature members of the Commission’s Directory of Performing and Teaching Artists.
