Klarides and Crisco Announce Woodbridge Grant Through Small Cities Program

HARTFORD – Deputy House Republican Leader Themis Klarides (R-114) and State Senator Joe Crisco (D-17) today announced that the town of Woodbridge has received funding through the federal Small Cities Community Development Block Grant. 

Woodbridge was awarded $300,000 to fund its town-wide residential rehabilitation program.  Woodbridge currently has eight projects on its waiting list including septic system repairs, electrical, energy efficiency and structural repairs.

“I am delighted that Woodbridge has been awarded this funding,” said Representative Klarides. “This grant money will assist the town in making significant improvements without the need to turn to local tax dollars to make those improvements happen.  I appreciate DECD and the Governor keeping Woodbridge as a priority with this allocation.”

“This is will certainly have a positive impact on efforts to improve the residential rehabilitation programs in Woodbridge,” said Senator Crisco.  “This grant will allow the improvements to go forward and will reduce the financial burden on local taxpayers.”

The federal funds are allocated through the State Department of Economic and Community Development under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Woodbridge was one of twenty-eight towns awarded a total of over $13 million in Small Cities funds which were awarded to eligible municipalities for economic development, affordable housing, community facilities and revitalization of development projects.
