Rep: Labriola Secures State Grant for Playground at Andrew Avenue School in Naugatuck

$2,500 OPM Grant Will Help Pay for School’s First Playground

A $2,500 grant that will help pay for the construction of a playground at the Andrew Avenue School in Naugatuck has been approved by the state Office of Policy and Management, state Representative David K. Labriola announced today.

“This new playground – the school’s first - will provide new recreational opportunities for the students and help them keep physically fit,” said Representative Labriola, R- 131st District. “Since it will be built in conformance with federal guidelines on accessibility to the disabled, it will be open to every child. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of students, parents and friends of the Andrews Avenue School, this worthwhile project will soon become a reality. I’m glad I was able to gain state support for it as well.”

While Representative Labriola worked to secure state funding for the new playground, local fund-raisers and private contributions are paying for almost the entire cost of the $63,054 project.
