Rep. Labriola: $10,000 State Grant Approved for Oxford Posypanko Park Fence and Backstop Project

Pay Costs of Replacing Backstop & Fencing Leading to Dugouts

A $10,000 grant to help pay for the replacement of the backstop and fencing leading to the dugouts at the ball field at Posypanko Park in Oxford has been approved by the state Office of Policy and Management, state Representative David K. Labriola announced today.

Because of budget constraints at the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department, most of the repairs and upgrades have been paid for by the Board of the Oxford Babe Ruth League, which held various fundraisers for the projects, including the replacement of fencing surrounding the outfield, which was completed last year, said Representative Labriola, R-131st District.

“I congratulate the Oxford Babe Ruth League for taking the lead in the local fund-raising effort that paid for the replacement of the outfield fence. The people of Oxford have received a big bang for their buck with this grant,” Representative Labriola said.

A professional fencing contractor will install the backstop and the fencing leading to the dugouts. Volunteers will donate time and labor to tear down some existing structures and prepare the site where the new fencing and backstop will be installed, Representative Labriola said.
