State Rep. John Piscopo (R-Thomaston) secures $5,000 grant for Thomaston Opera House

 

State Rep. John Piscopo (R-Thomaston) today announced that he has secured s state grant for $5,000 for the Thomaston Opera House. Piscopo said the grant will benefit a Thomaston tradition that has spanned more than a century.

 

“The Opera House has always been part and parcel of what makes Thomaston the quaint, unique New England town it is,” said Rep. Piscopo. “Through the years, the Opera House has been enjoyed by many of my family and friends, and I trust that this grant will help keep the Opera House viable for future generations to enjoy.”

According to its Web site, built in 1884, the Thomaston Opera House serves as a cultural and educational center for the Town of Thomaston and its surrounding communities. The Main Stage, Arts Center and Children’s Series shows are often performed to sold out audiences and provide a level of entertainment in community theatre that is unsurpassed in the area.
