Rep. John Piscopo attends groundbreaking ceremony for Harwinton athletic fields 

State Rep. John Piscopo (R-Thomaston) attended a groundbreaking ceremony on June 18 at the future site of a youth sports complex located off of Bentley Drive in Harwinton. Rep. Piscopo, who played a role in obtaining funding for the site, hailed the occasion and its future benefits for Harwinton youth sports.

“For as long as anyone can remember, Harwinton youth sports have been predominantly played somewhere outside of Harwinton,” said Rep. Piscopo. “Today, we set out on a path to a new era for Harwinton’s youth sports program. I’m privileged to have played a role in helping to make this dream become a reality.”

The plans for a youth sports complex were approved by Harwinton voters last year, resulting in a $2.7 million investment. Work on the project has already begun, with several trees already having been removed from the site, noted Rep. Piscopo.
