Rep. Stripp Recognizes the Weston Community Park Organization and the Town of Weston

State Rep. John Stripp today would like to commend the the Weston Community Park Organization (WCPO) and the Town of Weston for getting together and raising the necessary funds for improvement to the Bisceglie/Scribner Park which is owned by the town.

The Bisceglie/Scribner Park improvements include a playground, walking trails, picnic facilities and handicap accessible playground adjacent to the town’s existing swimming facility.

The total project budget was a cost of $250,000. Through Connecticut’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program, the Bisceglie/Scribner Park was given $75,000 in a state grant. $25,000 of the costs was available in the Parks and Recreation reserve fund and $150,000 is being raised by a private capital drive known as the Weston Community Park Organization.

Rep. Stripp said, “I want to congratulate the residents of Weston. The Bisceglie/Scribner Park is an example of what can be accomplished when the community works collectively for a common goal.”

The goal of the WCPO was to create an appealing outdoor community space for all Westonites to enjoy year-round. “The new features designed for Bisceglie/Scribner Park will permit families of all ages, abilities, seasons and interests to benefit from this magnificent facility,” added Rep. Stripp.
