REP. STRIPP AND HOUSE REPUBLICANS HOST MAYORS, FIRST SELECTMEN FOR BUDGET ROUNDTABLE

HARTFORD- State Representative John E. Stripp, of Weston along with House Republican Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., of Norwalk will host a budget roundtable discussion for local elected leaders from around Connecticut on Tuesday Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. in Room 1-D of the Legislative Office Building.

Republicans and Democrats will receive a budget briefing from non-partisan staff during the session and an outline of Connecticut’s fiscal problems and how they could affect towns and cities.

Rep. Stripp said, “There needs to be a partnership between our local and state governments. Ultimately, anything we do in Hartford will affect towns like Easton, Redding and Weston. I look forward to hearing from my top municipal officials Natalie Ketcham and Thomas Hermann regarding their concerns on the current economic crisis.”

Easton 1st Selectman Hermann said, “The chief elected officials of Connecticut’s municipalities, both D’s and R’s, agree on the problems and agree on proposed solutions. We are counting on our legislative officials to do the same.”

Redding 1st Selectman Ketcham added, “I am grateful for the opportunity to speak with our state legislators at the beginning of the session, so that they can be mindful of local concerns as they go about their work in the next several months. In these challenging times, it is more important than ever to work together to protect the interests of our citizens."
